After a too long absence from Colorado I am lucky this Memorial Day to be in Denver for my granddaughter Makenna’s high school graduation. It’s a homecoming of sorts for me.
Last evening my wife and I attended a celebration hosted by Makenna’s parents and a friend’s family. Both girls were star volley ball players and are about to embark on their university educations. Both girls are grown-up young ladies, beautiful and smart and a tribute to the young people today. I appreciate that I was lucky to be there and, most of all, flattered with pride about Makenna.
On another note, it is special to be out West again. Everything is bigger, the vistas and distances, and the ever presence of the mountains looming over the landscape. Long ago I learned from my travels that there is no absolutely best place in the world, but I know for sure, there is something out here that makes you want to return time and again. This trip I’ve been blessed twice.
