At this moment, I’m feeling love and appreciation for the goodness of people. There is something about human life that supersedes and transcends all else. It’s humbling.
Our good friend Rosie, from Mexico, was visiting family in South Carolina and took the opportunity to stop by St. Simons before returning home. We looked forward to the reunion knowing that it would be a wonderful time to catch up with laughs and enjoy her marvelous cooking.
It wasn’t long and the topic of the pandemic came up and she inquired about getting a booster shot while here. She had been vaccinated with two shots of Sinovac in Torreon where she lives and was eager to get a Pfizer vaccine if possible.
Without doing much research, we ran off to the local CVS pharmacy where we promptly bungled the online application so that the employees had to take charge only to find that Rosie’s medicare card was out of date. Upon returning home, we enlisted Betty to help, updated the card and ran off to the pharmacy again where we prevailed on the staff to stop everything and help us.
Despite our ineptitude and insistence, the CVS staff pitched in and got Rosie the booster as well as a flu shot. They were most helpful and cordial. By the time we left everyone was all smiles, a tribute to Rosie’s ebullient personality. Life is good.
