A couple of days ago while out working in my shop I had the radio on and caught part of the debate between our current senatorial candidates, Jon Ossoff and the incumbent David Perdue. My takeaway is that Perdue spent most of his time ranting about the socialists and other boogymen. He didn\u2019t seem to want to talk about much else.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It struck me that the the high death rate among Georgians from the ongoing coronavirus was not brought on by the socialists, nor can the crisis in health care be laid at their feet. The stark conclusion, however, is that both may be attributed to actions of Republican enablers such as our Senator Perdue. He has steadfastly voiced support for Trump.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Senator Perdue is on record chiding Georgians that there was not really much of a threat from Covid-19 because such a small percentage of us ever get it. That was before 327,000 Georgians got infected and more than 7,400 died, and before the death of 220,000 Americans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Further, the senator has repeatedly been accused of cashing in on the health crisis by trading stocks based on insider information about the pandemic. Such allegations certainly don\u2019t look good, and, if true, are both illegal and unethical, to say the least.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
One thing that seems true beyond a doubt is that he rarely comes out of his cloister to speak to the people. He has kept an unusually low profile hunkering down on Sea Island, Georgia\u2019s premier luxury resort and residence. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
I have personally written the senator as well as other Georgia representatives. In all fairness to him, I must say that he was as unreachable and uncommunicative as all the rest. Responses from his office were pure boilerplate and always characterized by platitudes that did not even address my concerns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We can do better. Senator Perdue, in my opinion, has exercised his duties more like a sinecure than a responsibility for the well-being of Georgians.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It\u2019s not the socialists; it\u2019s you, Perdue!
