I sense that the Democrats\u2019 obsession with Donald Trump might work to bring about their defeat. In the six days since President Biden\u2019s inauguration both the print and television media have been abuzz with non-stop condemnation of the previous president. Such, in my opinion, is overkill. The would-be-king is dead; let\u2019s move on. We have more pressing issues to deal with as a nation. Let the sociopath hole up in opulence in Florida and forget about him. Being inconspicuous and inconsequential is his worst nightmare.<\/p>\n
Continued harping and outrage over the depredations of our \u201cmad king Ludwig\u201d will only sour the public on the Democrats, hurt the party, and help confirm Republican attacks that suggest Democrats are out of control partisans. The public is exhausted from the unprecedented turmoil of the last four years. My friends tell me that they relish dialing back politics as a topic of concern and are happy they don\u2019t have to face terrible breaking news each day. Frankly, people of all stripes seem to want to quiet the airwaves and take a break period. They are tired of all the commotion.<\/p>\n
All of this, however, is not to say that Congress should not pursue the impeachment of the former president. It must, just as the Nuremberg trials had to go forth, to set the record straight and proclaim that justice will prevail.
