The Canadians did the right thing and stood up for themselves and sent a strong message that they would not succumb to bullyism and a wannabe dictator down south. In doing so, CANADA just might be the \u201cgreatest country in the world.\u201d They apparently put their domestic differences aside and came together against what they saw as the greater threat from Donald Trump. Mark Carney was the right choice for prime minister, even if his Liberal party sometimes went astray under Trudeau. A vote for Poilievre was a vote for \u201cTrump-lite.\u201d<\/p>\n

As one Canadian voter* put it, \u201cUnlike our southern friends and neighbors, the fate of our country will not be in the hands of a coarse, convicted felon and an adjudicated sexual abuser, fraudster and insurrectionist.\u201d<\/p>\n

Let\u2019s hope that Canada sets an example for others to follow in rejecting the folly of actions coming out of Washington. And let\u2019s hope that Canada\u2019s action stiffens the spine of all Americans, including congressional Republicans, to put their country first without regard for domestic and personal grievances.<\/p>\n
