As a young sage I know likes to say, \u201cIt is what it is!\u201d which, apparently, suggests that something has happened and we have to live with it. I guess that pretty well sums up where we are as we await the second Trump administration. Like many of you, I\u2019m still processing the election results and am in a state of \u201cwatchful waiting,\u201d a phrase associated with Woodrow Wilson\u2019s failed efforts to stay out of the Great War. Let\u2019s hope for something better this time.<\/p>\n
On the positive side, it has been a great relief to have the election over and put an end to the cacophony of texts, emails, phone calls and TV talking heads for a while. Like most presidential elections, there is the opportunity to start fresh with an optimism that we\u2019ll come together for the good of the nation. And, naively perhaps, there is the optimism that Trump, like some previous presidents, just might jettison his sordid past and rise to the occasion to do good things for his country, if not his legacy.<\/p>\n
If the headlines are to be believed, we are in for a \u201csoap opera,\u201d if not disaster, the next four years. Let\u2019s hope not. As the young sage might say, \u201cit remains to be seen.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
