Most mornings, weather permitting, I ride my bike. I have a regular route through the neighborhoods, taking back streets, up to what I call Buckhead, a cluster of bars and restaurants at the corner of Arnold Rd. and Ocean Blvd., one of three main roads on the island. I\u2019ve done this since 2020 when I first started reporting how businesses and people here coped with the coronavirus pandemic. Presently, I\u2019m doing old man stuff, snooping, watching new construction and other changes. It\u2019s interesting and helps me take the pulse of local politics.<\/p>\n
For the most part, it seems safe to say that St. Simons Island is an affluent and fertile Petri dish for Republican and right wing sentiments. That is except for Marigold Court, a short almost one block street of modest homes that might best be described as cabins or cottages. There, like a fly in the ointment, a community of blue yard signs for Harris\/Walz stand out as if to proclaim \u201cnot here.\u201d<\/p>\n
